How to see how much time you spend on Instagram (iPhone, 2026)
To see your time on Instagram, go to your profile › Menu › Your activity › Time management. Instagram shows your average daily time over the last 7 days, counted from when you open the app until you close it or switch to another app. For a day-by-day number, use iPhone Screen Time: Settings › Screen Time › Daily Average, then Day or Week. Instagram's Daily limit, on the same screen, only sends a reminder; it doesn't lock the app unless a parent supervises a Teen Account. Neither tells you how much of that time went to Reels.

How to check your time on Instagram
- Tap Profile or your profile picture at the bottom right.
- Tap Menu at the top right.
- Under How you use Instagram, tap Time management. One of Instagram's help pages puts it inside Your activity, so if you don't see it, open Your activity first.
You'll see the average time you spent on Instagram over the last week. Instagram counts from the moment you open the app until you close it or switch to another app. Instagram's help says this feature isn't available on computers.
How to see Instagram time in Screen Time
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Screen Time, then Daily Average.
- Tap Week or Day. Instagram appears in your most used apps.
If Screen Time is off, turn on App & Website Activity first. Screen Time can also show how many times you picked up your phone and how many notifications you got, which helps if Instagram notifications are what keep pulling you back.
Why the two numbers don't match
Instagram shows an average over 7 days; Screen Time shows each day separately. If Share Across Devices is on, Screen Time adds your iPad and Mac to the total. And if you sometimes use Instagram in Safari, that is web time, not time in the Instagram app. So the two can be different without either being wrong.
How to set a daily limit on Instagram
- Go to Profile › Menu.
- Under How you use Instagram, tap Time management.
- Tap Daily limit, choose an amount of time, and tap the back arrow at the top left.
Instagram calls this a daily time limit reminder: when you reach it, you are told, and you can keep going. Spend the time on people, not Reels (minulo)
Time management tells you the total, but not what you were doing. If most of it is Reels, minulo opens Instagram's official website inside an iPhone app with the Reels and Explore tabs and suggested posts hidden, so opening Instagram to reply to a friend stays short. Hiding is free. minulo can also lock the official app with Screen Time, free for up to 2 hours per block.
Limits: while the official app is locked, its notifications don't arrive, and minulo sends none. minulo is iPhone only.
How do I see how much time I spend on Instagram?
