How to stop seeing Stories on Instagram on iPhone (2026)
minulo hides the whole Stories row on iPhone for free: open Instagram inside minulo, turn on Stories, and the bar at the top of the feed is gone.
Instagram's Help Center only describes muting one person's story at a time, and we found no setting that hides every story at once. minulo's switch works only inside minulo, so the official Instagram app still shows Stories.
- Install minulo, tap Add a service and choose Instagram.
- Tap the gear next to Instagram and turn on Stories. Reels and Explore tabs and Suggested posts can be hidden the same way.
- Open your feed, messages and your own posts from the minulo home screen.
- In the Block tab, choose the official Instagram app, free for up to 2 hours per block.

What Instagram lets you do
The Instagram Help Center explains how to mute someone's story: at the top of the feed, tap and hold that person's profile picture, select Mute, then turn on Story. Their story leaves the bar at the top, but you still see their posts in your feed and the notes they share. Muting a story is different from unfollowing them.
That works for one person at a time. If the Stories row pulls you in no matter whose story it is, you would have to mute every account you follow one by one. We found no setting in the Help Center that hides all Stories at once.
Hide every story with minulo
minulo opens Instagram's own website inside the app and hides the items you turn on. Stories is one of them, next to Reels and Explore tabs, Suggested posts and Every tab but DMs. Your feed, messages and your own posts keep working. You can change what is hidden at any time, so you can bring Stories back when you want to catch up. Hiding is free with no time limit.
Nothing changes on your account. You don't mute or unfollow anyone, and the people you follow can still see your Stories.
If you also want to stay out of the app
In minulo's Block tab, allow Screen Time and choose the official Instagram app. When you tap its icon, a blocked screen appears, and its Open in minulo button takes you to Instagram without Stories. Blocking is free for up to 2 hours per block. Schedules and Hard Mode are in minulo Pro.
Limits, so you can decide honestly: hidden parts are hidden only inside minulo, and the official apps don't change. While minulo blocks an official app, that app's notifications don't arrive, and minulo sends none of its own. Posting Stories, voice messages and calls aren't available. minulo is for iPhone, with a Mac version that works in Safari and Chrome, and there is no Android version yet. It is new, with few ratings. Can you turn off Stories on Instagram completely?

Does muting someone's story unfollow them?
