How to stop videos on Pinterest: turn off autoplay and hide video Pins (iPhone, 2026)
Pinterest's help says video Pins appear in your home feed and search results and start playing once half of the Pin is on screen. You can turn off autoplay: in the app with the switch Autoplay videos on cellular data under Social permissions, and on a computer with Autoplay videos on desktop. The app switch is named for cellular data, and the help says nothing about Wi-Fi. Turn off autoplay in the Pinterest app
- Open the Pinterest app and tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
- Tap the settings (nut) icon at the top right.
- Tap Social permissions.
- Switch off Autoplay videos on cellular data.
Pinterest's help also gives a second route for the app: tap your profile picture at the bottom right, then your profile picture at the top left, then Privacy and data, and switch off Auto-play videos on cellular data. The page doesn't make clear to us which device each route is for, so if you don't see Social permissions, try Privacy and data.
Pinterest says video Pins start playing on your phone once half of the Pin is in view, and sound follows your device settings.
Turn off autoplay on a computer
- Log in on pinterest.com.
- Click the more-options icon at the bottom left and choose Settings.
- Click Social permissions in the left menu.
- Under Autoplay videos, switch off Autoplay videos on desktop.

Activity turns off recommendations based on Pins you engaged with. Pinterest doesn't say either one affects video Pins, and changing them doesn't change the ads you see.
Hide video Pins in minulo
minulo is an iPhone app that opens Pinterest's website inside the app. Turn on Video pins to hide video Pins from what you browse. It is off by default. Recommendations hides the home feed along with Today, Videos and Ideas, and is on by default. You can also hide related suggestions under a Pin, or the search box, if you only want your boards. Saved and Messages open straight from the minulo home screen.
Hiding is free. minulo can also lock the official Pinterest app with Screen Time, free for up to 2 hours per block. While it is locked, Pinterest's notifications don't arrive, and minulo sends none of its own. Schedules, longer blocks, Hard Mode and multiple block lists are in minulo Pro. minulo is not on Android.
