How to use Snapchat on a Mac (2026)
Snapchat's help doesn't list a Snapchat app for Mac. On a Mac you use Snapchat for Web at web.snapchat.com in Safari, Chrome or Edge, where you can chat, call and send Snaps, and Chrome or Edge can add it to your Dock. minulo is an iPhone and Mac app, and on iPhone it opens Snapchat with Spotlight and Discover hidden while chats keep working, for free.
On a Mac: download the Mac app (.dmg)
Snapchat for Web runs in the browser you already have. Log in with the same account as on your phone and you can pick up your chats, start voice and video calls and take Snaps with your Mac's camera. It is not the whole app: Memories, managing your Stories, changing your username and privacy settings still need the phone, and Spotlight is on the website too.
This page is written by Ayumu Kitabayashi, the developer of minulo. Facts about Snapchat come from Snapchat Support and Snap Newsroom pages listed below, checked on 2026-11-04. Menu names can change with app and browser updates.

- On your Mac, open the latest Safari, Chrome or Edge and go to web.snapchat.com.

- To send a Snap, open the Camera, click the lens button to take a photo, or hold it to record a video.
Allow the camera, microphone and notifications
Safari: open the Safari menu, choose Settings for web.snapchat.com, and set Camera and Microphone to Allow. For notifications, open Safari › Settings › Websites › Notifications and set web.snapchat.com to Allow.

What doesn't work on a Mac
- One computer at a time. Logging in to Snapchat for Web on another computer logs you out of the first.
- App-only features. Snapchat lists viewing photo and video Snaps in Memories, managing your Stories and their analytics, changing your username and updating your privacy settings as still only in the mobile app.
- Spotlight is still there. Snapchat says you can view Spotlight on Snapchat for Web, so using Snapchat on a computer doesn't keep you away from short videos by itself.
Where minulo fits
minulo runs on iPhone and Mac. On iPhone it opens Snapchat's website inside the app, with hiding for Spotlight and Discover that is free, and chat opens straight from the minulo home screen. The Mac app works in Safari and Chrome. Its privacy policy says it reads only the address of the page you have open and, when that page is a way into a feed or short videos, sends you to a place you choose. It needs macOS Automation permission and doesn't read the page itself. This page doesn't cover which Snapchat parts the Mac app handles, and the Mac app is in Japanese for now.
- Install minulo from the App Store.
- On the home screen, tap Add a service and choose Snapchat.
- Tap the gear next to Snapchat and turn on hiding for Spotlight and Discover.
