minulo vs Scroll Less: two iPhone apps that hide Reels and Shorts, compared (2026)

Scroll Less and minulo both let you use Instagram and YouTube inside their own app with the endless recommendation feeds removed. Scroll Less has been around longer and has more ratings. minulo names every network it covers, says plainly that DMs keep working, and can send the official app's icon to its Reels-free view.

This page is written by the developer of minulo. Scroll Less facts come from its US App Store description and its release notes for version 3.4.0, checked 2026-10-20. Its website (scroll-less.app) could not be reached that day. Features and prices can change.

Pick Scroll Less if

  • you want an app with a longer track record and real US ratings (22, average 4.6, on 2026-10-20);
  • you want app lock and website blocking in the same app as the minimal browser;
  • you mainly want YouTube and Instagram without recommendation feeds.

Pick minulo if

  • you need to be sure your DMs and group chats keep working, and want an Instagram view with nothing but messages for free;
  • you use TikTok, Snapchat, Threads, Pinterest, Reddit or LinkedIn and want to know up front that they are covered;
  • you want the app in a language other than English;
  • you keep falling back into the official app, and want its icon to lead to the Reels-free version instead.

Does Scroll Less keep Instagram DMs?

Not mentioned on its App Store page. Its description says you can enjoy “friends, updates, videos” without the addictive parts, but it does not mention messages. In minulo, Instagram DMs keep working while Reels are hidden, and Every tab but DMs leaves only messages and notifications.

Does Scroll Less work inside the official Instagram app?

No. Its App Store description describes opening platforms inside its own distraction-free WebViews. Its release notes mention App Lock and a shield for chosen apps, but not removing Reels inside the official app. minulo does not change the official app either: it can lock it with Screen Time, and the block screen's Open in minulo button leads to Instagram without Reels.

Which one covers TikTok?

minulo hides TikTok's For You feed and keeps TikTok messages; it also has a DMs-only setting for TikTok. TikTok is not mentioned on Scroll Less's App Store page.

Which one is more established?

Scroll Less. It has been on the App Store since March 2025 and had 22 US ratings (average 4.6) on 2026-10-20. minulo launched in September 2026 and has no US ratings yet.
