Is SocialLite free? Its price, and apps that hide Reels for free (2026)
SocialLite is free to download, with in-app purchases, while minulo hides Reels and Shorts for free without buying anything. On the US App Store (checked 2026-10-26), Pro costs $6.99 to $17.99 a month or $19.99 to $47.90 a year, depending on the offer shown, and a Family plan is $12.99 a month. Its description doesn't say which features are free. If you want Reels and Shorts gone without paying, Nope is completely free in Safari, and in minulo hiding Reels, Shorts and suggested posts and the DMs-only setting cost nothing.

What you get without paying in SocialLite
SocialLite's App Store description lists what the app does (it hides short video feeds, recommendations, Explore, Live and Shopping tabs and ads, keeps DMs, and can block the official apps), but it doesn't split those features into free and paid. The only way to know for your account is to download it and see what the app asks you to pay for. The price you see can also differ from someone else's, because the App Store page shows several offers.
How to hide Reels for free instead
- Install minulo from the App Store.
- Open Instagram inside minulo and sign in on Instagram's own page. minulo does not receive your password.
- Reels, Explore and suggested posts can be hidden from the gear next to Instagram. For messages only, turn on Every tab but DMs.
- Add YouTube and TikTok the same way. Shorts and For You can be hidden for free too.
- Optional: in the Block tab, let minulo lock the official apps with Screen Time, free for up to 2 hours per block.
Where SocialLite is still the better pick
SocialLite has push notifications for Instagram and Snapchat, which minulo doesn't, and far more ratings (14,384 in the US, average 4.8). If notifications matter more to you than the price, it is worth trying SocialLite first.
Limits, so you can decide honestly: minulo can't change the official apps, so Reels and Shorts are hidden only inside minulo. While minulo blocks an official app, that app's notifications don't arrive, and minulo sends none of its own. Posting Stories, voice messages and calls aren't available, because the web versions of these networks don't have them. minulo runs on iPhone and Mac (plus Chrome and Safari extensions), not Android, and it is new, with few ratings.
