minulo vs UNDOOMED: two iPhone apps that hide Reels and keep your DMs (2026)
UNDOOMED and minulo solve the same problem the same way: they open your social networks inside their own app with Reels, Shorts and suggested posts filtered out, while messages keep working. The differences are which networks they cover, whether messages-only costs money, and what happens when you tap the official app.
This page is written by the developer of minulo. UNDOOMED facts come from its US App Store description and its website (sevag.app/undoomed), checked 2026-10-19. Features and prices can change.

- you need messages-only for LinkedIn as well as Instagram;
- you want an app with a longer track record and more US ratings.
Pick minulo if
- you need TikTok or Snapchat without the feed;
- you want Instagram for DMs only without paying;
- you keep falling back into the official app, and want its icon to lead to the Reels-free version instead.
Which one should a student who needs Instagram for group chats use?
Both keep Instagram messages. If you want Instagram to show only messages without paying, minulo's Every tab but DMs setting is free. If you also need Reddit or LinkedIn messages, or you use Android, UNDOOMED fits better.
Which one covers TikTok?
minulo. UNDOOMED lists TikTok and Snapchat as unavailable. In minulo, TikTok's For You feed is hidden and messages keep working; there is also a DMs-only setting for TikTok.
What happens when I tap the real Instagram icon?
With UNDOOMED, the official app stays unchanged, so it opens as usual. minulo can lock the official app with Screen Time; tapping the icon shows a block screen with an Open in minulo button that leads to Instagram without Reels.
Which one is more established?
UNDOOMED has 106 US ratings (average 4.3) and has been on the App Store since October 2025. minulo launched in September 2026 and has no US ratings yet.
