How to use Facebook only for family and friends, without Reels (iPhone, 2026)

minulo opens Facebook with Reels and Watch hidden for free, while Notifications, Messages, Friends and Feed stay one tap away, so you can keep up with family and friends. Facebook itself has no setting that turns Reels off: its help says reels may appear in your Feed and in Video, and that all videos on Facebook are now reels. The closest built-in view is the Feeds tab, which lists the most recent posts from the people, Favorites, Pages and groups you follow, but Facebook goes back to the ranked Feed when you close and reopen the app.

See posts from the people you follow: the Feeds tab

Facebook's help describes the Feeds tab as a view that isn't personalized. In the app, tap Menu, scroll down and tap Feeds. The tab lists the most recent posts from the people, Favorites, Pages and groups you follow, newest first.

It is a place you open, not a setting that stays. Facebook says that when you close and reopen the app, the posts it predicts are most relevant go back to the top of your Feed. So the Feeds tab is a good way to catch up with family, but you have to go there each time.

Quiet the rest: Snooze, Not Interested and Unfollow

To take a break from one person, Page or group, tap Options on one of their posts and choose Snooze [Name] for 30 days. Facebook says you won't see their posts in your Feed for 30 days. To end it early, tap Menu, Settings & privacy, Settings, then Content preferences, Snooze and End Snooze.

On any post, Options also offers Not Interested to see fewer posts like it and Unfollow to stop seeing posts from that source. These change what Facebook shows you, but none of them turns Reels off. Facebook's help says reels are recommended and may appear in your Feed and in Video. More on that in can you turn off Reels on Facebook.

Keep Facebook for family and friends with minulo

  1. Install minulo, tap Add a service on the home screen and choose Facebook.
  2. Tap the gear next to Facebook and turn on Reels and Watch. Turn on Home feed or Marketplace too if you want them gone.
  3. Open Notifications, Messages, Friends or Feed from the minulo home screen to see what family and friends post.
  4. To stop the official app as well, open the Block tab, allow Screen Time and choose Facebook in Apps to block.

Hiding parts of Facebook is free with no time limit, and blocking the official app is free for up to 2 hours per block. minulo Pro adds longer blocks, schedules by day and time, Hard Mode and multiple block lists. Apps you don't choose stay open, so if your family chats in the Messenger app, leave it off the block list. The list of what you can hide is on the Facebook page.

Limits, so you can decide honestly: Reels and Shorts are hidden only inside minulo, and the official apps don't change. While minulo blocks an official app, that app's notifications don't arrive, and minulo sends none of its own. Posting Stories, voice messages and calls aren't available. minulo is for iPhone, with a Mac version that works in Safari and Chrome, and there is no Android version yet. It is new, with few ratings.
