minulo

minulo vs Dull: two apps that remove Reels and Shorts (2026)

Dull and minulo work the same way: you open Instagram, YouTube and other networks inside the app, short videos and algorithmic feeds are gone there, and DMs keep working.

The differences are price (Dull needs a subscription after its trial), how many networks each covers, and the extra limits each one offers.

Pick Dull if

  • every network you use is among Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X and Reddit;
  • you want daily time limits, quiet hours and friction gates in the same app;
  • you like a 24-hour delay before you can loosen your own rules;
  • you prefer an app with more US ratings (58 against minulo's 1).

Pick minulo if

  • you use TikTok, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn or Snapchat;
  • you don't want a subscription just to hide Reels and Shorts;
  • you want Instagram or TikTok to show nothing but DMs;
  • you want an app whose privacy label has no Data Used to Track You;
  • you also want the same on a Mac.

minulo shows each network's website rather than the official app, so screens look a little different from the app. While minulo locks an official app, that app's notifications don't arrive.

Is Dull free?

No. Its App Store description says Dull requires a subscription (Dull Pro), with a 7-day free trial, then $3.99/month or $29.99/year, or $59.99 once for lifetime access (US, checked 2026-11-02). In minulo, hiding Reels, Shorts, Explore and suggested posts is free, and Pro is optional.

Does Dull work with TikTok?

TikTok is not among its 5 platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X and Reddit). minulo hides TikTok's For You feed, keeps messages, and has a free DMs-only setting for TikTok.

Is Dull safe to use?

Its App Store privacy label (checked 2026-11-02) lists purchases and identifiers under Data Used to Track You, and its description says it uses Apple AdServices, Meta and Mixpanel for attribution and product analytics. It also says no account is needed for the core browser, and that it does not proxy or store the pages you browse. minulo's label lists only Data Not Linked to You.

Which one should a student who needs Instagram for group chats use?

Both keep Instagram DMs with Reels removed. Dull needs a subscription after the 7-day trial, while hiding is free in minulo. If you want time limits, quiet hours and friction gates built in and are happy to pay, Dull includes them in its subscription.
